Ryan McVicar is the founding pastor of New City Presbyterian Church and Director of the Detroit Project, a ministry that exists to be a catalyst for a church planting movement throughout the great city of Detroit. Ryan began the first church plant of the Detroit Project in 2012, along with his wife Megan and their three young children (Nevin, Molly and Anna). He was born and raised in many of the prison towns throughout the state of Illinois (his Father was a prison Warden). Ryan was educated at Murray State University during which time he met his best friend and wife, Megan, who was a student at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN.
After college they were married and worked on staff with Campus Outreach to start two new college ministries in the Midwest. In 2003, following their time with Campus Outreach, Ryan and Megan moved to Orlando, Florida where Ryan pursued theological training at Reformed Theological Seminary. Prior to his ministry at New City, Ryan served in pastoral ministry at Second Presbyterian Church in Memphis, Tennessee and at Knox Presbyterian Church in Harrison Township, Michigan.
