What we believe
New City Presbyterian Church is a confessionally reformed church. Together we confess the Apostles’ Creed and Nicene Creed as well as the Westminster Standards which includes the Westminster Confession of Faith together with the Larger and Shorter Catechisms, and hold them to be faithful summaries of the theology, piety, and practice taught in the Bible and recovered during the Protestant Reformation.
New City is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).

HISTORY
We are amazed by what God has accomplished here in a little over a decade. New City Presbyterian Church has grown from a core group worshiping in our founding pastor’s living room to a congregation of over 300 members of all ages worshiping and serving together in a beautiful, historic church building.
In early 2012, several individuals and families from the greater Detroit area felt led by God to plant a church within the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). The Great Lakes Presbytery affirmed this vision, with the goal of planting many more churches throughout metro Detroit. The first church to emerge from this vision, called “The Detroit Project,” was New City Presbyterian Church. Royal Oak was chosen as the location because of its strategic position as the epicenter of Metro Detroit, ideal for planting additional churches in the region. In January 2013, New City began worshiping at the Royal Oak Middle School.
Within its first year, New City started planning for its first church plant in Midtown Detroit. In early 2015, Redeemer Presbyterian Church Detroit launched public worship. That same year, New City transitioned from a Mission Church to a Particular Church. Since then, New City has continued to grow in membership and expand its ministries. Over time, additional pastors, staff, and officers have joined the leadership team to serve the growing congregation.
In late 2019, after meeting at the Royal Oak Middle School for seven years, New City purchased a historic church building in neighboring Ferndale. Following several months of renovations, the building was ready for use. The congregation joyfully embraced the move in the summer of 2020
Our building consists of three sections, built in 1924, 1949, and 1957 respectively. Our facility consists of a large 480 seat sanctuary, a fellowship hall with full kitchen, student and adult classrooms, several nursery rooms, a chapel, youth rooms, staff offices, parking, and beautiful grounds.
The Lord has already shown His faithfulness to our congregation through our move into this building, through growth in numbers, the flourishing of our youth ministry, and our ability to have a “home base” from which to reach out into the local community. We warmly welcome all to come worship God with us.
