BIOGRAPHY
Javier Contesse serves as the Director of Liturgy & Worship Arts and Director of Media & Communications. He is married to Pepa (2011), and together they have four children: Trinidad (2014), Santiago (2016), Clemente (2018), and Agustin (2019). While originally from Chile, Javier spent much of his early life in Belgium, the U.S.A., and Mexico before returning to Chile, where he studied Music Composition and Arranging. Following a few years in music production and post-production, in 2009 he was invited to develop and lead a worship ministry at Iglesia UNO, a church plant of the Presbyterian Church of Chile, where he served 5 years.
In 2015, the Contesse family moved to Louisville, Kentucky, for Javier to pursue an Master of Divinity in Worship Leadership at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. During this season, he served in various ministry roles at Sovereign Grace Church of Louisville, Redeemer PCA, and other local ministries.
Javier connected with New City Presbyterian Church while completing his degree. Those conversations led the Contesses to relocate to Detroit in December 2017, where Javier joined the church staff.
In late 2019, Javier came under care of the Great Lakes Presbytery in pursuit of ordination as a minister in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
