BIOGRAPHY
Javier is originally from Chile. He is married to Pepa, and they have four children; Trinidad, Santiago, Clemente, and Augustin. Javier grew up in Belgium, U.S.A., Mexico, and then settled back in Chile where he studied Music Composition & Arrangements, he married Pepa, and was invited to develop and implement a worship ministry at Iglesia UNO; a church plant from the Presbyterian Church of Chile in Santiago, Chile.
The Contesses moved to Louisville, KY in 2015 for Javier to continue an Mdiv in Worship Leadership at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary which he had begun online. During this time he served at Sovereign Grace Church of Louisville, Redeemer PCA, and in various other ministry opportunities.
While finishing his degree, he reached out to New City Presbyterian Church, beginning conversations which ultimately led the Contesses to relocate to Detroit in December of 2017 and come aboard New City’s staff, serving as the Liturgy & Worship Arts Director and also as Media & Communications Director.
In late 2019 Javier came under care of the Great Lakes Presbytery in pursuit of ordination as a minister in the PCA.
